The Story Behind

 Operation: Bad Elf

What is Operation Bad Elf?

Operation Bad Elf is a heartwarming holiday initiative led by Constable Guy Beveridge, bringing festive cheer to families in Copperas Cove and surrounding areas. This unique program "catches" elves in playful mischief around town, creating unforgettable holiday memories for kids and connecting them with local law enforcement in a fun, magical way. Parents lend their family elves to the Constable's office, and these mischievous elves are soon “booked” in merry scenarios, from eating too much candy to drinking too much syrup.

Each elf’s journey ends with a personalized “booking sheet” detailing its fun adventures before being returned home by Constable Beveridge himself in a police cruiser decked out in Christmas lights. This special delivery creates a joyful moment for each child and deepens connections within the community.

How Operation Bad Elf Got Started

Constable Beveridge launched Operation Bad Elf to bridge the gap he noticed between officers and the community, especially children. Inspired by the popular “Elf on the Shelf” tradition, he wanted to bring the same joy to local families while showing children that police officers are friendly faces in their lives. The project started small but quickly grew, with Constable Beveridge singlehandedly delivering over 125 elves in just 3 weeks in 2024.

Our Vision for the Future

As Operation Bad Elf continues to grow, Constable Beveridge dreams of expanding it to other cities in Coryell County and neighboring areas. By encouraging other officers to volunteer a day or even a few hours, the joy could reach even more families, possibly doubling the impact each year. With additional support, this heartwarming tradition can extend to new communities, fostering bonds and spreading holiday cheer even further.

Whether it’s one elf or one hundred, Constable Guy is committed to serving his community with Christmas spirit and love, one joyful delivery at a time.
